Vintage Santa Mugs

After seeing these adorable Santa mug bottle brush trees on Pinterest and Etsy, I really wanted to find some Santa mugs!

I started looking for vintage Santa mugs.  Every time I saw them on eBay or elsewhere, they were expensive.  Seems like they are making a comeback or something.  Anyways, low and behold, I found a set of eight punch mugs at a local thrift store for the grand total of $2.99!

One way you can sort of date vintage items like these mugs is to see the stamp "Japan" on the back.  America put a halt to imports from Japan from 1939-1945 due to the war issues.  So, these mugs are either pre-war or late 40s, 50s, or 60s.  My guess would be 50s or 60s but who knows.    

Now, I just need to figure out how to turn the mugs into one of these...



I just can't get enough of retro Christmas items no matter what time of year it is!
